Poem: Change
The curtain fell
The edifice fell
The dictator died
The parties came
But we did not change.
The Ballot box came
The edicts disappeared
The patronage petered out
The regime fell
But we did not change.
Media monopoly ended
And ushered free press
Harambees ceased
Correctness assumed a new meaning
But we did not change.
We did not change
Thinking that nirvana
Is without
Let’s go inside ourselves
To redeem our country
Which has trudged wrong
For far too long.
